Set learning goals for yourself instead of performance goals. By learning, you will automatically become a more competent performer, but if you perform well without learning, it will be hard to repeat the success.
Why are bad moods so much easier to catch than good moods? Whatever the reason, you’re wise to shield your energy with an imaginary protective coating when you come into contact with a chronically grumpy someone. Keep a smile can create the right mood to soften the grumpiness of the other someone.

If you’re criticized, don’t jump up to defend yourself. It will be far better to blow it off in the moment and let the dust settle where it may. In time, your moment will speak for itself. For every Yes, there is a no. Where there’s darkness, light is never far away. We tend to focus on one without acknowledging the other. Somewhere in our world, there are two sides to a particular story. We could be focusing on only one and ought to be giving the other consideration. The word ‘investment’ usually gets used where financial transactions are concerned. Money is not the only thing investable. We invest time, our hearts and our minds. Our support of others is also an investment and it’s your support of someone that is needed now. Don’t focus on dwell on what you might gain in a material sense. There’s so much more to be gained in other ways.

It takes courage to take action without instructions from the person in charge. Perhaps that’s why initiative is a rare quality that’s coveted by managers and executives everywhere. Seize the initiative. When you have a good idea, start implementing it without being told. Once people see you’re serious about getting things done they’ll want to join in. The people at the top don’t have anyone telling them what to do. If you want to join them, you should get used to acting independently.
